Initiated by Prof. Liang-Jenq Leu, President of Taiwan Construction Research Institute (TCRI) and the sponsor, Richard Moh, Chairman of Moh and Associates, Inc., the first Cornell Civil and Environmental Engineering Alumni Gathering in Taiwan was held at American Club Taipei on 25 February 2022.
Thirty-eight alumni attended the event, including Minister Tsung-Tsong Wu (Ministry of Science and Technology), Chih-Kung Lee (Chairman of Industrial Technology Research Institute), Honorary Professor Yeong-Bin Yang (School of Civil Engineering, Chongqing University), Distinguished Professor Ray-Shyan Wu (Executive Vice President, National Central University), Professor Shang-Hsien Hsieh (Chairman, Department of Civil Engineering, National Taiwan University & Board of Directors, Cornell Alumni Association of Taiwan), etc.
The reception table was decorated with Cornell flags, pennants, and mascots, which were prepared by the Cornell Alumni Association of Taiwan and Dr. Jung-Feng Chang. A collection of campus photos was shown on the screen during the dinner. Moreover, Angel Hsu, a junior student at School of Civil and Environmental Engineering of Cornell shared her study and campus life by a pre-recorded video with the background of Hollister Hall. Her video made the gathering more lively and meaningful. A lot of memories of Cornell campus life were brought back to each alumnus during the night. All attendees enjoyed the warm and delighted gathering. In the end, each alumnus received a Cornell tote bag of the Cornell campus store bought by Richard Moh and a bag of cocoa beans planted by the Alumnus, Prof. Yih-Ping, Huang, as gifts, which has drawn the first Cornell Alumni Gathering to a perfect ending.
